In 2002, Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera entrusted to priests of Opus Dei  a new parish church being built in the Santa Fe district of Mexico CIty. The blessing of the first stone for the strikingly modern church took place in 2005. Bishop Javier Echevarría dedicated the church last Tuesday.

The parish church, which has already begun functioning, draws over two thousand people from the surrounding area each week-end. 200 young people from the parish have volunteered to take part in social assistance programs for needy persons in the outlying sections of Santa Fe. Over 5,000 people have already received assistance through these programs.
