Following the directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Prelature of Opus Dei in the United States has adopted a number of measures to insure the protection of children and young people.
Following the indications given for dioceses in the United States in the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People approved by the USCCB in 2002, the Prelature of Opus Dei in the United States has adopted guidelines for those working in activities of the Prelature involving minors, as well as training for all such personnel. Also, in accord with the USCCB document Essential Norms for Diocesan/Eparchial Policies Dealing with Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Priests or Deacons (2002), the Prelature in the United States has approved a policy for dealing with allegations of sexual abuse of minors and has established a Review Board to study any such cases.
